WELCOME HOME

Welcome

Debre Ganet Kidus Gabriel Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in, New Jersey, Inc. is a branch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. The Holy Synod is headed by Their Holiness Abuna Merkarios and Abuna Matthias, Patriarchs of Ethiopia. His Eminence Abuna Petros is the present Archbishop for our Diocese. Debre Ganet Kiduse Gabriel Church was established in 1998 at the request of members who reside in New Jersey and wished to establish a local church community.  We began this mission in a rented space in Newark, NJ with 30 members.

We now have over 300 members in the metropolitan area.  At present, there are two Priests and five Deacons who regularly provide sacramental services to the community, in addition to visiting clergy from the Tri-State area. Our services are performed in English and some Ge'ez, the Classical language of Ethiopia. Our door is always open and we are committed to serving the greater community at large; bringing the Gospel to the corners of the world.
