The St. Tekle Haimanot Brotherhood of 

Debre Ganet Kidus Gabriel EOTC of New Jersey, Inc.

Motto: We believe in the Holy Trinity and we believe in one universal Brotherhood in the service of Our Lord Eyesus Kristos and of humanity.

1st Peter 2:17 “Honor all men; love the brotherhood, fear God honor the King, we the members of the St. Tekle Haimanot brotherhood pledge to be every ready in this duty.

Saint Tekle Haimanot is one of the greatest Saints in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. “Hail to the man in the flesh and the Spiritual Angel”, Hail to the one whose Master found him faithful in the little, put him in charge of much, and told him to enter the eternal joy of his Mater in the land of the living.

Brotherhood Pledge and Purpose:

We pledge our unswerving loyalty and allegiance to the St. Tekle Haimanot Brotherhood Association.  We pledge to continuously work for our unity among our brothers in the EOTC and to be ready to give moral and material assistance to those in need. We further pledge to protect, maintain and defend the dignity and integrity of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church at all times.

Brotherhood Activities:

  1. We the brotherhood have been assisting our Priests in setting up of our Church.

  2. During the entire year we have been maintain and up keeping our new Church premises.

  3. We participated in making preparation for all Holy Days.

  4. We fulfilled our duty to contribute our time and resources for the regular Sunday food sale building fundraiser, which has been very successful.

  5. During the fasting periods we assisted our Church in Alms Giving by collecting food and toiletries for the needy and assisted in distributing it to the institution to which it was donated – Newark Emergency Services for Families.

  6. We collaborated with the Youth to hos Mother’s Day with presentations of gifts to all our Mothers as a form of appreciation for their dedication to their Church and families.

  7. We collaborated with the sisterhood in helping our parish fundraiser drive.

  8. For St. Gabriel’s Day celebration in the month of July we organized the drinks and utensils and helped in preparation for our parish day celebration in honor of our Patron Saint, and held our yearly Icon Auction.

  9. For the celebration of Filsata – The Assumption of our Lady Mariam in the month of August we planned and decorated our Church for this great celebration.

  10. We continued with our brotherhood retreat in honor of St. Tekla Haimanot on the first Monday in September, we are in our 3rdyear and has been successful and rewarding in building brotherly unity.

  11. In the month of September we planned our 1stevent “Ethiopian New Year Celebration which showcased the talent within our parish and sister parishes and it was a successful and rewarding event.

Future Plans / Economic Development:

The Brotherhood plans to lay the foundation of the Economic Arms of the Church.  We plan to invest in Real Estate and flip and/or rent houses and present a portion of the profits to the Church’s Building Fund.  Eventually, the Church will fully assume responsibility of establishing a non-profit community Development Sector of our Church.
